About Jose Calderon
Jose spent several years working for some of the best personal injury law firms in this state focusing his practice on catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and defective product cases. After representing hundreds of clients in a variety of personal injury cases, he started his own law firm in order to better represent his clients. Jose handles cases from in-take and initial investigation to jury verdict or settlement, and is not afraid to take his clients’ cases to trial if needed. During his first ever trial, he was part of a team that obtained a jury verdict that was sixty-five times the Defendant’s final settlement offer before trial.
In only his second year of practice, Jose was selected by The National Trial Lawyers, an invitation-only organization, to their Top 40 Under 40 list. He has also been selected to the Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars list every year since 2020, an honor shared with less than 2.5% of all attorneys in Texas.
While Jose is primarily a trial lawyer, he has also argued in front of the Texas Tenth Court of Appeals where his appeal was chosen out of hundreds of civil cases to be argued in front of a live panel of judges and pre-law students in a special session at Blinn University in Bryan, Texas.
Jose graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in History as a member of Phi Alpha Theta, the history honor society. He then moved back to his hometown of Houston where he was a recipient of the Dean’s Merit Scholarship during all three of his years at South Texas College of Law Houston. During law school he served on the student government and was elected as President of his law school’s Texas Exes chapter. Jose interned at some of the top personal injury law firms in Houston during his last two years of law school.
During college and in the years after, Jose became active in many non-profit organizations. As a student, he volunteered at the Workers Defense Project and served as a volunteer tutor for low-income elementary students. In between college and law school Jose spent three years working as a housing specialist at the Austin Tenants’ Council where he represented individuals who needed emergency repairs to their homes, who were enduring illegal evictions, and those who wrongfully had their security deposits withheld. It was during these experiences that he realized his passion for representing individuals who experience injustices due to others. Jose still handles some tenant/landlord cases on a pro bono basis.
Being the son of Mexican immigrants, Jose is fluent in Spanish and regularly represents clients from all over Latin America.
